Christmas Toy Appeal

We are a charity and development trust in Ellesmere Port and, for the last two years, we have organised a Toy Appeal for local families and children. We had the most amazing response from our local community and businesses, which enabled us to help 28 families in 2013 and then 39 families in 2014.

DONATION OF TOYS

Ellesmere Port Christmas Toy Appeal 2016 – donated toys can be dropped off at Stanlaw Abbey Business Centre during the hours of 8:30am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday. If you do not have time to select a gift but would like to make a cash donation, which will be used to purchase toys for the appeal, please contact us on 0151-356-5896 or email Marianne@stanlawabbey.com

Many people drop off toys, games, sweets etc. but cash donations are also very welcome as they enable us to buy for the age groups with the least amount of donated items.

WHAT HAPPENS TO TOYS DONATED TO THE TOY APPEAL

Children who will be receiving the gifts fall into the following categories: Under 12 months, 1 – 2 years, 3 – 4 years, 5 – 6 years, 7 – 8 years, 9 – 11 years, 12 -13 years, 14 – 16 years and 17-year-olds.

All toys donated to the Appeal will be wrapped and tagged appropriately for the child’s age and gender, collected by Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) and then distributed via CWaC family support workers in time for Christmas Day.

WHAT TO DONATE

We believe every child deserves a new gift at Christmas

0-3 years: dolls, teddy bears, cot mobiles, baby clothes, bath toys, nursery rhymes books, puzzle, play mats, sensory gifts

3-5: dolls and action figures, cars, lorries, colouring sets, pencils, crayons, books, puzzles, construction sets, Lego, dress up clothes, Play-Doh

5-9: educational games and toys, stationery (colouring sets, pencils, crayons, school sets), books, puzzles, word-searches, crosswords, magic sand, dress-up clothes, telescopes, globes, skateboards.

9-12: games and toys, stationery, books, T-shirts, hair accessories, gloves, scarves, hats

13-16: books, make-up and toiletries, gloves, scarves, hats, T-shirts, hair accessories

Chocolate and selection boxes are always welcome for any age.

Please note we are unable to accept any toy guns, swords, knives, gift cards, electronic games, CDs, or DVDs.

We want children benefiting from the Toy Appeal to have the same feeling we all like to feel when receiving a gift. While it is very generous of people to offer used toys, on this occasion we are sadly unable to take them, so only new toys in the original packaging, please.

No toy is too big or too small – we will find a grateful child to receive all of your gifts. As we do not have the benefit of knowing children’s personal circumstances, we would be grateful if toy weapons could not be donated on this occasion.

We ask for any donations to be dropped off here at Stanlaw Abbey Business Centre but if anyone is unable to drop off we would be more than happy to come and collect.  Our closing date for donations is 9th December 2016 and once we have wrapped and bagged them, they are distributed by Cheshire West and Chester Council Family Support Service in time for Christmas.

We would be very grateful for any donations or support to this very worthy cause.

How Businesses Can Help

If you are a business owner, there are other ways you can help, either through engaging your employees to help fundraise or by making a donation. Each year we have always fallen short on toys/gift for certain age groups, so any financial donations will be used to purchase these items. We will show your support on the Toy Appeal page, which is found on the Stanlaw Abbey website, as well as through the local media. Please read more details here.
